As part of the new functionality presentation, the SEDMAX team held a webinar for its users.

SEDMAX chief developer Maxim Napad spoke about the new software features and demonstrated the simplicity and speed of creating a mnemonic diagram in SEDMAX and setting up its elements.


About mnemonics WEB-editor:

 Mnemonic diagrams are the main tool for the daily work of the dispatcher and operator, which allows to:

  • see power utilities/product manufacturing entirely;
  • observe the behavior of elements and infrastructure in different operating conditions on a real-time basis;
  • monitor object parameter values fluctuations in a timely manner;
  • identify places of accidents and blackouts;
  • perform operational management of facilities.

Mnemonic diagrams play an important role in the issue of accidents response speed and their localization.

If a number of objects are disconnected, the mnemonic diagram immediately signalizes the object's disconnection or the parameter's limit exceedance and shows the specific device that caused the disconnection of the objects chain.

Thus, a long physical plant walkdowns for searching the object of accident site one by one are excluded, and the dispatcher makes a resolution within a few minutes.

How the new SEDMAX mnemonics WEB-editor works:

  1. The scheme is created from the ground up to the end in the Web user interface (SEDMAX menu: Settings - Mnemonic diagrams editor);

  2. The editor uses the principles and databases of the "information model", which links at the start of a specific object (e.g., transformer substation) with a specific element (e.g., multimeter) and a specific parameter (e.g., voltage phase A). The purpose of the information model (IM) is to solve the problem of “object-device-parameter” relationships in cases of cross polling and data collection.

  3. The settings stipulate you to define rules for the behavior of components objects and elements.

  4. By default, the editor provides a library of templated elements. Once created, bound to an object, and pre-configured for a specific behavior, an element can be stored in a collection, copied, and reused in other SEDMAX mnemonics.

  5. After formation and activation information model's object additional functionality for this object becomes available:

  • Passport data:

Object passport shows additional attributes: name, ID, codes, recent change, parameter values, and position. There is also a manual data input: the dispatcher can enter data manually in case, for example, if the device gives an error message or disabled.

  • Dispatch labels

Labels are used to indicate important indications near the object: "grounded", "operational management prohibition", "repair works", "critical information", etc.

  • Remote control

If an object supposes control (e.g., a power switch), the dispatcher can set rules for the object's behavior and remotely turn it on and off. The user has access to the settings of conditions for all types of objects and changes (setting the color, transparency, turns, etc.).
