SEDMAX and SATEC sponsored the TEAM-2019 Siberia partners forum.

At this platform, we gathered professionals capable of looking to the future with confidence and ready to implement the most ambitious projects.

During the forum, we discussed a lot of topical issues concerning the future development of energy, industrial IoT, and business applications of machine learning.

Our customers and partners shared their successful collaboration experience. Dmitry Antonenkov, Chief Power Engineer of Siberian Anthracite JSC, shared a story of how the implementation of ASEPTM enabled the company to develop methodology and simulate the energy-saving potential for the facilities within Neryungrinsky open-pit coal mine. Dmitry also gave a very detailed report on the implementation of ADMS and ADCS that allowed reduction in blackout-associated equipment downtime from 624 to 156 hours.

Viktor Borisovsky, Deputy Technical Director and Head of the Ilim Group's branch office in Bratsk, together with Aleksandr Antonov, Head of ENPRO representative office for Northwestern Federal District, gave a presentation of the investment project "Implementation of Telemetry and Communications System". The development of this project was conditioned by a steep increase in the number of major accidents that resulted in enormous losses for the company. Implementation of ASEPTM ensured increased observability, which resulted in reducing accident response time and the number of accidents. Ilim Group is going to further expand the ASEPTM system and create a single dispatch center that includes the following: comprehensive control and accounting of energy resources, a single instrument dashboard, data transfer to adjacent systems, reporting on energy resources consumption. Another goal is to significantly reduce costs through predictive diagnostics and workload management.

Maksim Maslov, Head of Investment Planning and Analysis Department of ChelPipe Group (Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant), spoke on an extremely exciting topic of commercial efficiency of digitization and automation. His presentation also dealt with a number of the most current issues like: Does automation offer any commercial efficiency? How can we choose a system to minimize costs? What methods should be used for assessment? In his report, Maksim has given a detailed explanation of why today, in the digital transformation era, it is so hard to calculate the efficiency of implementing innovative technology, and what challenges we will have to address on our journey to the digital future. In his presentation, he also reviewed 4 types of effect assessment based on the example of ChelPipe Group, Severstal, and Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works projects:

  • internal expert review;
  • benchmarking;
  • assessment of non-implementation risks;
  • Total Cost of Ownership method — this investment assessment method is considered by many professionals to be the most advanced.

At the end of his speech, Maksim emphasized that the economic effect would be higher if we strive not only for automation but also for the comprehensive IT transformation and reinvention of business processes.

After the business session was over, our guests went on enjoying friendly conversation at dinner accompanied by a live jazz orchestra music and took part in fine spirits tasting.
